Located at 1345 Piedmont Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia, the Atlanta Botanical Garden spans 30 acres and was established in 1976. This garden is accessible year-round and features both indoor and outdoor exhibits, including thematic gardens like a Japanese garden, a rose garden, and a children’s garden. Among its facilities are a visitor center, a cafe, and a gift shop, all wheelchair accessible.
Notable attractions include the Canopy Walk, a 600-foot-long skywalk that allows visitors to explore one of the city’s last remaining urban forests from 40 feet above the ground. The garden also houses the Fuqua Orchid Center, renowned for its significant orchid collection. Seasonal highlights include the “Garden Lights, Holiday Nights” event, which transforms the garden with thousands of lights during the winter season, making it a top attraction in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden is deeply involved in conservation and botanical research, focusing on the preservation of native plant species in Georgia. It offers a range of educational programs for all age groups, with classes and workshops in horticulture, art, and more. The Edible Garden not only showcases edible and medicinal plants but also hosts cooking demonstrations. The garden’s amphitheater is a venue for concerts and other events throughout the year.
