The University of California Santa Cruz Arboretum is a 30-acre botanical garden located on the campus of the University of California, Santa Cruz. The arboretum was founded in 1964 and is home to a diverse collection of plants, including a number of rare and endangered species.
The arboretum includes a California native plant garden, a desert garden, and a tropical rainforest garden and is a popular destination for birdwatching.
In addition to its recreational and educational value, the University of California Santa Cruz Arboretum is also a center for research and conservation and is a leader in the study of plant genetics and conservation. A member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and a partner with the Center for Plant Conservation, the arboretum is committed to the conservation of plants and animals.
Educational programs and events are offered throughout the year, including guided tours, workshops, and lectures.
