Agave americana, also known as the Century Plant, will only bloom ONCE in its lifetime. But, oh, what a bloom!
The spectacular flower stalk towers above the plant, reaching an astonishing height (as much as 30 feet high). And, incredibly, the gorgeous display of yellow-green flowers will be pollinated by bees, bats, moths… and even hummingbirds!
Horticulturists call the agave’s dramatic bloom a Death Bloom 1. Because once the plant blooms, it will quickly decline.
